PM Modi backs greater personal sector position in defence manufacturing | India News

NEW DELHI: Calling for higher personal sector participation within the defence manufacturing sector, PM Modi on Monday mentioned India was already exporting navy tools to over 40 international locations in its quest to develop into a high arms provider on the planet within the years forward.
“Without the participation of the private sector, the 21st century ecosystem of the defence sector cannot stand on its feet,” the PM mentioned whereas addressing a webinar with trade chambers on efficient implementation of the Union Budget’s provisions within the defence sector. The PM mentioned the federal government, the private and non-private sectors must work in accordance with a “timebound action plan and roadmap” to make sure India builds a strong defence-industrial base and emerges as a significant arms exporter.
“Since 2014, we have been working to usher in transparency, predictability and ease of doing business in the defence sector. We have taken several strong steps including delicensing, deregulation, export promotion and FDI liberalisation,” Modi mentioned.
