India’s affected person zero uncertain about returning to Wuhan for research | India News

THRISSUR: A 12 months after contracting Covid-19, India’s first affected person is extra fearful about pursuing her research, whereas well being professionals — who managed her situation — vividly recollect their struggles.
She was pursuing an MBBS at a school in Wuhan, the epicentre of the Covid-19 outbreak in China. She examined constructive on January 30, 2020 when she arrived residence.
She is now uncertain about returning to varsity because the Covid risk continues. “She is attending a coaching programme in Thrissur to make up for her lost academic days. She now views her Covid infection as a minor chapter in life, though at that point all of us were worried. She doesn’t want to talk to anyone about it,” her father stated.
District medical officer Dr Ok J Reena recalled how she got here to the district hospital with slight fever and a throat ache and was admitted for therapy. “We were anticipating cases as many students from Thrissur were studying in China and most of them were likely to return given the winter holidays then. We had put in a place a programme to track returnees,” she stated.
“The health minister, principal secretary (health) and several others reminded us the entire nation was watching us. We were conscious and provided her the best care. She was probably the most tested patient and had to spend many days in hospital as protocols were different then,” the DMO stated.
There had been three different college students who returned from China to Thrissur; all of them examined unfavourable.
