GUWAHATI: Facebook on Saturday flagged as “false information” a video posted by Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, claiming that it exhibits supporters of AIUDF MP Badruddin Ajmal welcoming him at Silchar airport with “pro-Pakistan slogans”. The social media platform mentioned “independent factcheckers” had examined the video and located the allegation to be incorrect.
The BJP functionary retorted that Facebook had jumped the gun by coming to a conclusion earlier than forensic specialists may analyse the video to ascertain what Ajmal’s supporters chanted. “I believe my ears. A case has been registered and the police will get the video examined by the forensic department. But Facebook has already given its verdict, which proves how well-oiled the mechanism is. So many fake news have appeared against us and Facebook has not taken them off.”
