Covid-19: SC rejects Prashant Bhushan’s plea looking for probe into PM unilaterally saying lockdown | India News

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a PIL strenuously argued by advocate Prashant Bhushan looking for inquiry into how “Namaste Trump” programme was organised with enormous congregation regardless of MHA’s personal pointers towards crowd contact.
Bhushan had additionally sought inquiry into PM Modi unilaterally declaring lockdown on March 25.
“No PPE kit was procured on time to save lives of many doctors who died of Covid. The PM could not control Covid but destroyed economy as crores of jobs were lost and economy decelerated by 24%,” Bhushan stated.
A bench of Justices L N Rao and Ajay Rastogi stated it is a matter for public debate and never for court docket’s to determine. “In the Covid scenario, latitude must be given to the federal government. Six months again nobody knew what form the pandemic would take,” the bench stated dismissing the PIL.
